About Library:
Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad (MRUH) is the only Private University under green field category established in the year 2020 As per Telangana State Private Universities Act No.13 of 2020. The Central Library of the Institute was established in the year 2020 with a mission to support and facilitate learning, teaching, and research in MRU Hyderabad by providing information resources, facilities, and services. In accordance with the objectives of the Institute, the Library aims to develop a comprehensive and dynamic collection of resources including e-resources which will be useful for the faculty and students, supporting their scholarly advancements. The library balances its efforts towards supporting both the educational and research functions of the institution.
The main library building comprises of two (2) blocks with a total floor area of approximately 12,912 square feet and it could accommodate about 500 users at any one time. Besides the Main Library, branch libraries are located at the School of Agriculture Sciences, School of Sciences & Paramedical and School of Management/Commerce. To accomplish its mission to provide excellent resources, services and facilities to support learning, teaching, research and consultancy activities of MRU, the Library has over the years built up its collection in various subject fields, both in print and electronic format. The Library currently holds a collection of 15789 volumes of books and bound journals, as well as a collection of maps, sound recordings, microforms, video tapes and slides.
The Central Library is in a fast-growing stage. The library has implemented RFID technology to enhance circulation services and allow users to issue, return, renew, and check library account themselves. It has also helped fortify security of library holdings, complemented by the introduction of CCTV within the library.
This Library is equipped with library automation system using KOHA open source integrated library software with Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), which has enabled computerizing the library operations. The library uses KOHA for library management and daily operations. The OPAC allows users to search for books and check their transaction details.
